Kent State University’s College of Business Administration hosted the annual Spirit of Women in Business Conference on International Women’s Day, March 8, 2019. Over 250 women from diverse industries and professions come together to hear speakers, to network, and to attend their topic of choice in smaller break-out sessions. This year was the 9th annual SWIB event, and Kent Elastomer Products, Inc has participated in the conference every year since its inception in 2011!
“The annual Spirit of Women in Business Conference brings together women from diverse professional backgrounds for professional and personal development. The conference provides an opportunity for the College of Business Administration to share program offerings, current initiatives and contributions to the region with those in attendance,” states Erin Fairman, Director in the Career Services office at the Kent State University College of Business Administration.
All salaried women of Kent Elastomer attended this year’s event. We all get to talk to each other from time to time, whether face to face or via phone, but we believe celebrating this day dedicated to women in business together helps form a stronger bond for all of us.
Some great personal takeaways from our group were tips for adapting to change, and how to use micro-resilience techniques to step back, re-focus, and attack things with renewed energy and a clear head. From the importance of presenting oneself with confidence to promoting teamwork through being fair, open-minded, and treating all employees with dignity and respect, our group gained a lot of valuable information and guidance from this year’s conference. Thank you to Kent State University’s College of Business Administration for hosting another great event!
